Designed for middle school to adult learners of all skill levels, this hands-on workshop will guide you through each step, from shaping the frame to dressing your fairy in beautiful petals and embellishments. No prior experience needed. All materials provided.

A Traditional Craft Revived -
Dorset buttons are an age-old craft that originated in the county of Dorset, England. These handcrafted buttons, dating back to the early 17th century, are cherished for their intricate patterns and unique charm. In modern times, Dorset buttons have experienced a resurgence in popularity, becoming a beloved hobby for crafters and textile enthusiasts alike. By attending a class in making Dorset buttons, you can immerse yourself in this delightful tradition and learn to create your own beautiful buttons. You can use these as buttons for clothing, or make them into jewelry.

STAINED-GLASS PLANT STICKS  with Heather France – Thursdays, May 1, 8, 15 and 22, 4:00 - 6:00 PM, $60 - $70 REGISTRATION CLOSED

DETAILS

Learn to make stained-glass plant sticks for your outdoor flower or interior plant pots. A set of three pieces including a bumblebee, a ladybug, and a gnome. Students will need to bring a shoe box and newspaper to wrap their glass.  Glasses or safety glasses and apron or smock are required. No open toed shoes. Drinks must be in a covered container.

Heather has 25 years of experience.

Come learn traditional basketry techniques while working with locally gathered, soft natural materials suited for weaving.  We will also discuss harvesting, drying, storing and preparing natural local materials for basket making. All materials and tools provided.

We will cover the following topics: Project supplies to make your own, Instructions to sew at home, History of quilting and more.Supplies and patterns will be provided. Students will complete the project at home on their own sewing machine. WILLOW SNOWFLAKE ORNAMENT with Sandra Kehoe - Saturday, November 15, 10:00 AM - 4:30 PM,  $75 - $85 REGISTRATION CLOSED

In this one day workshop you will learn to make willow snowflake ornaments.Based on a traditional German technique, we will use a small jig to set prepared willow and wrap it in waxed linen. Make as many ornaments as time permits (most accomplish 3-5),in many different styles.  We will also discuss the process of preparing the willow for use in this project. These can be beautiful heirloom gifts for the holidays.
All materials and tools will be available.

PAPER MAKING with Dee Hazlett - Tuesdays, May 14th, 21st and 28th at 5:30 - 7:30 pm. Using scrap paper and paper on its way to the recycle bin, make paper instead! Equipment needed: 10 plastic coat hangers, an old bed sheet which will be cut, two towels and a 40-gallon plastic tote.  $40.00 for Members and $50.00 for Non-members.
