TRADITONAL BROOM MAKING with Jim Whitaker – Tuesdays, September 10, 17, and 24, 2:00 – 5:30 pm or until complete, $40 - $50 REGISTER

A beginning whittler should have a good knife, and a palm gouge and a cut resistant carving glove. Students must be over 14.

WILLOW BARK BASKET WORKSHOP with Sandra Kehoe – Saturday, May 31, 10:00 AM - 4:30 PM, $85 - $95 REGISTRATION CLOSED
Come learn traditional basketry techniques while working with locally gathered, soft natural materials suited for weaving. We will also discuss harvesting, drying, storing and preparing natural local materials for basket making. All materials and tools provided.

COLD WAX PAINTING with Kristin Stevenson - Tuesdays, September 9, 16, 23 and 30, 5:30 - 7:30 pm, $130 - $140 REGISTER
This class explores cold wax medium and the basic tools, materials and techniques used for achieving luminous, layered oil paintings. This class is suitable for beginners as well as artists interested in working in a new medium. All materials provided.
FLOWER FAIRY DOLL WORKSHOP with JoAnne Fredette - Saturday, September 27, 10:00 am - 1:00 pm, $45 - $55 REGISTER
Join this magical 1-day workshop where you'll learn to craft delicate flower fairy dolls using fabric, wire embroidery floss and silk flowers. Please bring your own low heat glue gun. All materials provided. Designed for middle school to adult learners. No prior experience needed.

Have you been meaning to pick up your flute again? Do you miss playing with other musicians? Or are you a high school flutist looking for a fun way to keep playing and grow your skills?
Whether you've been playing every day or your flute has been sitting in its case for years, you're warmly invited to join the Butternut Valley Flute Choir!
We'll spend eight enjoyable Wednesday evenings making music together in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. We'll play a mix of popular favorites and beautiful classical music arranged for flute choir—music that's fun, satisfying, and accessible. The focus is on enjoying the experience of playing together, not on perfection.

Barbara Siesel is a Juilliard-trained flutist, educator, and Butternut Valley resident who has inspired musicians for decades. She has performed throughout the US, Europe and Asia and has taught students from beginning flutists to musicians accepted into some of the world's leading conservatories and universities. Barbara is passionate about helping people rediscover the joy of making music and believes that playing with others is one of life's greatest pleasures.

Sense of Place: Abstract painting in cold wax
Learn to paint with cold wax medium in a workshop that explores how to abstract the landscape. Participants will learn how to use color, translate a landscape, and develop a visual language as they explore their experience of place.
A relatively fast-drying and forgiving medium, cold wax medium can be a great introduction to painting with oils, and encourages experimentation and playfulness. This workshop introduces all the basic tools, materials, and techniques necessary for working with cold wax, as well as more
Experimental techniques that make cold wax such a versatile medium (such as use of collage, oil paint sticks, pigments, and more).
All tools and materials will be provided for use in class.
Kristin Stevenson is an artist, teacher, and community arts administrator who enjoys working with folks of all ages and abilities to find creative ways to express their experience. Kristin works in a variety of mediums, and has been painting with cold wax for over 13 years. Her work can be viewed at kristinstevenson.net and on Instagram at @kjnstevenson.

FREE - CARICATURE WOODCARVING with Bill Henderson - 4-week class, Thursdays, October 8, 15, 22 and 29, 6:15-8:15 PM $0 REGISTER
With thanks to the Earlville Opera House for their grant which funded our recent exhibition, Working Hands, you can join longtime whittler Bill Henderson for enjoyable evenings whittling.
Bring personality to life in this free, hands-on four-week workshop with woodcarver Bill Henderson. Starting with drawing, you'll learn to exaggerate facial features while maintaining recognizable proportions, then transform your design into an expressive basswood carving. Bill will guide you through carving techniques, knife safety, shaping, and adding details that bring your character to life.
No prior carving experience is necessary, and all materials are provided. You'll leave with your own original caricature carving and the skills to keep exploring woodcarving.

FREE - QUILT WORKSHOP with MJ Brunschmid - 1-day quilt workshop, Thursday, October 8, 4:00‑6:00 PM $0 REGISTER
With thanks to the Earlville Opera House for their grant which funded our recent exhibition, Working Hands, MJ Brunschmidt is offering this free quilting workshop. Participants will have the opportunity to tackle several projects, including a bowl cozy, an insulated sandwich container and a 10-minute table runner.

3-WEEK WATERCOLOR CLASS with Dee Hazlett - Tuesdays, October 13, 20 and 27, 4:00‑7:00 PM $70 REGISTER
This class will build on watercolor techniques you may be familiar with and some you may not. We will explore color studies, landscapes and still life and wherever the class takes us!

3-WEEK QUILTING CLASS with MJ Brunschmid - Thursdays, October 15, 22 and 29, 4:00‑6:00 PM $60 REGISTER
Interested in quilting? You will be welcome in this class!! We will cover the following topics:
- Project supplies to make your own
- Instructions to sew at home
- History of quilting and more
Supplies and patterns will be provided. Students will complete the project at home on their own sewing machine. There is a minimum enrollment of 3 and maximum of 10.
